HAWC, the Housing Authority of Washington County, is a public corporation established by act of the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland under State law. HAWC's mission is to provide decent, safe and affordable housing solutions that strengthen our community by focusing on local needs through its Section 8, Public Housing and Rent to Own programs. The Authority's board of seven commissioners are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners maintain close linkages with all its appointed boards and commissions by having its members serve as Board Liaisons. HAWC's current BOCC Liaision is Ruth Anne Callaham.

HAWC Elects Officers

At its January 16th meeting, the HAWC Board of Commissioners elected the following officers for 2012:
